What's waiting in the house

  • The parlor radio, playing what the Coleys heard during the war
  • The plates on the dining table, each with a question underneath
  • The steep back stair your guide opens in the 1841 kitchen
  • Jimmy's original horse wallpaper, and the “Let's Play!” toys in his room
  • The blue kitchen, the icebox, and jars of peas a local artist sculpted from clay
  • Life in the '40s in the back parlor: the 1840s, the 1940s, and your guess at 2040
  • Twelve Stories of Weston upstairs

Help the house

Cleora kept her promise to Jim. Help us keep ours to the Coleys.

Cleora Coley gave the homestead to the Historical Society because it was her husband's wish. The house has been restored, and every job on the list drawn up before it reopened is done. What it needs now is what every old house needs: steady care, and people who love it.

  • Adopt an object

Conserving the Coley family's hair wreath cost $3,795. Adopt the next object that needs a conservator's care.

    Give to conservation
  • Care for the house

Paint, sash, plaster and roof: an 1841 house needs care every year. 2025's repairs to the entry door, a storm window and upstairs plaster came to $3,800.
