Witches in Connecticut was the first talk in the Weston History & Culture Center’s new series, Backstories & Breakfast: a light, seasonal breakfast followed by a presentation by Rebecca Gavin of the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History.
The hanging of witches in Colonial New England still haunts our imagination, and Connecticut’s trials and executions came more than 40 years before the better-known Salem witch panic. The talk told the stories of some of the women and men who were accused, tried and executed as witches, and how Connecticut brought the spread of witch accusations under control.
